The word "myriad"
9:29 PM
Is something that I've found pleasure in using a lot ever since I've first discovered the word for my paper back in the 5th grade. I wrote about the Ancient Egyptian times and how they had a "myriad of Gods" ahahaha. Since then, the word "myriad" became my primary synonym for "different".I remember using that word because I noticed that I used the word "different" too much on my paper. So I did what I loved doing at that time-- I popped in my Grolier 1996 Encyclopedia CD (Oo ang luma.. leche) and clicked their interactive Dictionary/Thesaurus. There, I found the word "myriad". Since I was young and I thought bonus points were always given to complex- sounding words, I used it and beamed with pride because I used a word I didn't understand! Oh, don't we all :) Yes, I was a cute little girl spending time discovering new words everyday. To add to the already embarassing geekiness, I would waste time before searching shit on that Encyclopedia CD or anything that had to do with Greek and Egyptian eras and Quasars and Pulsars. History and Astronomy was a thing that greatly interested me when I was a kid. No joke. I wanted to be a Paleo-Astronomer HAHAHAHA (I have no idea if such a thing exists). I dreamt of finding alien fossils on dwarf stars or sedimentary gas layers on icy planets or something. At times when all my friends were fantasizing about marrying a Backstreet Boy or an N'Sync-er or a Westlife-er, I did these things. I was embarrased of those and I still am. So yeah, I have no inkling as to what moved me to place that crap in this entry haha. Must be the MYRIAD of things I need to do for today. |
